About Us

Purpose

Scrub Bucket Gospel Ministries was co-founded by Maxine and Pat in 2000. It was in the Lord’s timing and our prayer and God kept telling them – “if you build it, they will come.” And the Lord has brought them and continues to do so after 20 years. It was all about TRUST.

Our purpose is to nourish good, hungry souls into a deeper awareness of God’s great love that carries us in good days and in bad days.  We strive to help all know that His love is everlasting and that HE IS REAL! They welcome anyone of any denomination. ALL are welcome.

SBGM is an independent ministry and self-sustaining by God’s Grace and the generosity of those whom God has sent.

Maxine

Maxine Pollock was born in Iowa and moved to Hawaii with her husband in 1974 to raise their three children.  She worked for many years as a cosmetologist and instructor.  In 1979, after dabbling in the Charismatic Movement she heard these words  “you became a dresser of heads but I will make you a dresser of hearts”.  With the Holy Spirit and Scriptures beginning to come alive within her, she resigned from her job and began her spiritual transformation.

Maxine worked as a Pastoral Associate at St. Anthony’s of Padua church in Kailua, Hawaii for 23 years.  She earned her Spiritual Director certification from the Mercy Center School of Spiritual Direction in Burlingame, California in 1999.  Maxine continues to work as a Spiritual Director.

Pat

Pat Tom, born and raised in Hawaii, was greatly Influenced by the Maryknoll and Franciscan Sisters. She and her husband, Clay, raised their 4 children in Kailua, Hawaii.  Pat worked as a nurse in both the hospital and home care settings. Working with people in varying situations and conditions was a vocation to minister to God’s people. Her prayer  was for the strength to see her through the worst scenarios and to accept God’s people and His plan.  Who was she to judge these the least of His brethren?

Pat is an active member of the Windward Choral Society and often smiles as she quotes St. Augustine by saying “when we sing we pray twice”.
